Step by step in Piclash

  1. 1Add a cut-out or shapePuppet warp works best on something with a clear outline: a photo with its background removed, a shape, a sticker or text.
  2. 2Open Puppet warpSelect it and choose Pro tools (Ctrl+K or Cmd+K) → Puppet, or … → Distort & warp → Puppet.
  3. 3Add pinsClick to place pins on the parts that should stay put, such as a shoulder, a hip or the base of a tail, and one on the part you want to move.
  4. 4Drag a pinDrag the pin and the image bends around the others, smoothly. Add more pins for finer control, then click Done.

Mesh warps bend a whole image evenly. Puppet warp bends it where you choose. Each pin is a joint: pin the parts that should stay still, drag another, and the image flexes between them, keeping its shape where it can.

Tips for natural results

  • Remove the background first. Puppet warp follows the outline of what’s visible, so a cut-out bends like an object instead of a rectangle. Piclash’s background remover runs right in the editor.
  • Pin generously. Three or four pins around the part you’re moving keep the rest steady.
  • Move in small steps. Several small drags look more natural than one big one.

Questions

What is puppet warp for?

Changing a pose without redrawing: raising an arm, bending a tail, curling a ribbon or a banner, or nudging a product's angle in a cut-out.

Does it work on text?

Yes. Text, shapes and groups can be puppet-warped and stay editable underneath.

Can I undo a puppet warp later?

Yes. The pins are saved with the design. Reopen the puppet warp to move them again, or reset it.
